Context

The RLabsU Virtual Micro Courses ran during the COVID-19 pandemic, creating an accessible alternative to in-person learning while people were confined to their homes. The initiative used mobile phones as an accessible learning platform to deliver short, three-hour courses combining bite-sized content, live interaction and collaborative learning.

Courses included Social Innovation (12 & 13 June 2020), Entrepreneurship (19 & 20 June 2020) and Small Business Management (26 & 27 June 2020).

Mishqah's role

I supported the development and delivery of virtual micro-courses, adapting learning content and activities for a mobile-based format and facilitating live sessions. I engaged with participants throughout the learning experience, tracked their participation and engagement to determine graduation eligibility, supporting the administration of course completion and certification.

Evidence & why it matters

The initiative enabled learners to continue accessing skills development from home during a period when traditional in-person learning was disrupted. Its mobile-first, low-data approach reduced technology and connectivity barriers, while the short course format enabled participants to complete skills development within a single session and receive certification of participation.
